What is Metastatic Breast Cancer?
Metastatic breast cancer (also known as stage IV) is not a specific type of breast cancer; it is the most advanced stage that has spread beyond the breast to other organs in the body. Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is incurable but can be treatable. The disease and treatment: chemotherapy, radiation, etc, can cause significant side effects.
What is Integrative Oncology?
Integrative oncology is a patient-centered, evidence-informed field of cancer care that utilizes mind and body practices, natural products, and other lifestyle modifications alongside conventional treatment.
Can you give a few examples?
Medical acupuncture to alleviate nausea and vomiting.

Why does ROOTS & WINGS choose to help Metastatic Breast Cancer patients with Integrative Oncology?
ROOTS & WINGS founder, Diana Keen, was diagnosed with Metastatic Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 2014. During this devastating time, her hospital offered her free trial appointments within its Integrative Oncology programs. This introduction proved to be life-changing as doctors, nurses and therapists empowered Diana to increase her physical, emotional, and mental health while enduring an unrelenting fight against cancer. Unfortunately, such appointments are not always available or covered by insurance. Diana, thankful for her own opportunity, wanted to extend it to other metastatic breast cancer patients, and thus ROOTS & WINGS was born.
